Carl Frampton vows to 'fill in' opponent on August 15

Carl Frampton has vowed to 'fill in' his opponent in eight days' time - whoever that turns out to be.

The Jackal returns to the ring next Saturday, August 15 in a behind-closed-doors fight at the BT Studios.

But just over a week out from the fight and Frampton is without an opponent after Armenian Vahram Vardanyan was forced to withdraw because of issues getting into the UK.

Frampton posted an update on his social media on Friday, describing the current situation as "a bit of a disaster".

He added: "Weeks ago, we were looking for an opponent. No one wanted it. I am obviously restricted to what we want to get, and I am restricted to European opposition.

"The Armenian guy is up for the fight but he is having problems getting his visa. So we are still looking.

"MTK, foreseeing there could be problems, have been paying a kid to train for the past three weeks. Which is good management.

"So hopefully he gets accepted and we can have a fight.

"But it has been a total disaster."

Frampton added: "I was due to fight Jamel Herring for a world title on June 13, but that couldn't happen because of the current worldwide pandemic.

"So this is a fight to keep me busy, and whoever is in the opposing corner is getting filled in.

"There is no doubt in my mind I am going to take all my frustrations of what happened recently out on them.

"And I have no doubt I will get my hand raised and get the Jamel Herring fight on before the end of the year."
