Carl Frampton to fight Jamel Herring by the end of 2020

Carl Frampton has confirmed he will fight to become a three weight world champion before the end of the year.

The North Belfast man will face WBO Super Featherweight Champion Jamel Herring.

The pair had been due to fight earlier this year before the coronavirus pandemic threw their plans into disarray.

Frampton returned to the ring in August with a routine victory over Darren Traynor.

A venue for the world title bout hasn't been confirmed although there were some indications that it could be Las Vegas - likely with no or minimal fans.

Frampton said on Twitter on Friday night: "I've just got the news that I've wanted for a long time. I will be fighting the champ @JamelHerring before the end of the year.

"Thanks to MTK & WBO for making this happen. Time to become 3 weight champ."

Frampton is currently embroiled in a legal battle with former manager Barry McGuigan.
