Carl Frampton shares hilarious story about the only Irish he knows

Carl Frampton can speak Irish. Well, cúpla focal anyway.

In documentary, Fir Fáinne, which followed boxer Paddy Barnes ’ quest to gain the Silver Fainne, the Jackal shared an hilarious tale about the simple phrase that he knows.

He revealed that when going up to Poleglass to visit then girlfriend Christine he got a black taxi - and out of fear of being identified as a “Protestant from Tiger’s Bay”, he’d tell the taxi driver: “See you later, Mo Chara”.

That's my friend in Irish.

Carl Frampton vs Josh Warrington rematch could happen, but on one condition

He added: “And that’s all the Irish I know!”

  • Fir Fáinne is available on BBC iPlayer  The programme was supported by NI Screen's Irish Language Broadcast Fund.
