Carl Frampton's next opponent confirmed as Jackal prepares for August 10 return

Carl Frampton will fight Emmanuel Dominguez on August 10 in the United States.

The bout was confirmed by Top Rank on Tuesday.

It will be The Jackal's first fight since losing to Josh Warrington at Manchester Arena back in December.

It is hoped the bout will act as a tune-up for Frampton ahead of a showdown with WBO featherweight world champion Oscar Valdez at the end of the year.

The August 10 show will be over 10 rounds and act as the main event of a card on ESPN+ at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia.

"Dominguez is a tall, young, hungry featherweight, so I'll need to be on my game," Frampton said of his opponent.

"The premise of an Oscar Valdez fight is dangling in front of me, so I want to go out and show the world that I've still got what it takes to be a world champion.

"Winning is always the most important thing, but I want to do it in style. It's great to be boxing stateside again, and Philly, in particular, has so much boxing history. I won't disappoint."

It will be Frampton's fourth fight in the US, with two of his previous three fights Stateside including the two battles against Leo Santa Cruz.

Mexican Dominguez (26-8-2, 18 KOs) has won two fights since suffering a third-round knockout loss to Jordan Gill on March 2 in England.

"Carl Frampton is already looking ahead to an Oscar Valdez fight, which gives me added motivation," Dominguez said.

"I am not a stepping stone. I am coming to Philadelphia prepared to ruin Carl's plans."
