Carl Frampton rival Jamel Herring tempted by 'beautiful' Windsor Park, but has never heard of the Oval

Speculation continues to mount that Carl Frampton will get his shot against Jamel Herring this summer.

It has been reported that the WBO world super-featherweight showdown is "likely" to happen at Windsor Park.

June 13 has also been mooted as a potential date for the fight.

Both boxers are keen on the fight happening in May or June, and Frampton would no doubt love it to happen at Windsor.

The Jackal outclassed Luke Jackson at The National Stadium back in August, 2018, but the showdown with Herring would be an even bigger spectacle.

And it appears former US Marine Herring is tempted by the prospect of fighting at Windsor Park.

He tweeted a photo of the South Belfast stadium with the message: "There’s no denying it. Windsor Park looks mighty beautiful. Let’s fill it up with wonderful people, even if I’m coming in as THE guest."

David from Belfast suggested Herring should fight at the Oval, the home of Glentoran Football Club.

Commenting on the photo of Windsor - which is the home of the Glens' bitter rivals Linfield - David replied on Twitter: "It's a s*** hole @JamelHerring, The Oval would be far better for it."

Unfortunately the East Belfast stadium isn't familiar to Herring who replied: "The Oval? I gotta look it up!"

The SSE Arena has also been mentioned as a potential venue for the fight but would have a much smaller capacity than Windsor.

It is hoped the fight - and venue - will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
