Carl Frampton pays tribute to pro debut with Dubai fight shorts

Carl Frampton has evoked memories of his professional debut with his fight gear for Saturday's world title clash with Jamel Herring.

The Jackal is aiming to win the WBO super-featherweight title to become Ireland's first-ever three-weight world champion.

The 34-year-old will wear dark grey coloured shorts in Dubai, which have hundreds of tiny messages of support from fans stitched into them.

Frampton tweeted a photo of the fight gear on Saturday, and said they were a tribute to the shorts he wore for his professional debut 11 hears ago.

The North Belfast boxer wore black shorts with a yellow 'Carlos' waist band for that fight against Sandor Szinavel on June 12, 2009 at the Olympia in Liverpool.

Frampton said on TwitterL "Fight Day! Here's the history making gear for tonight.

"A little testament to the shorts I wore for my first pro fight back in 2009. Time to go and do the job!"

Saturday's fight has been dubbed 'Legacy', slanting towards Frampton's attempt to make history in Dubai.

No other Irish fighter has ever won world titles in three different weight divisions.

If Frampton prevails it would be a massive achievement, becoming only the fourth British boxer to achieve the feat.
