Carl Frampton on wife Christine's "grief" over new autobiography

Carl Frampton says his wife Christine was quick to pour cold water on his forthcoming book being a knockout hit.

The former two-weight world champion boxer is hoping to release his autobiography later this year.

Frampton has been working with ghost-writer Paul Gibson on the book, which will chart the Jackal's rise from the streets of Tiger's Bay to one of Ireland's greatest-ever boxers.

The 35-year-old also promises to go more in-depth into the fall-out and subsequent court case with former manager and promoter Barry McGuigan.

It is sure to be a massive hit with fight fans, but it appears Christine isn't convinced her husband's life is interesting enough to turn into a book.

Frampton told Belfast Live: "We're in the middle of the book now and it's going well.

"Paul Gibson is working away on it, and any of the stuff he has sent me so far has been really good.

"Christine kind of gave me a bit of grief, saying, 'who is going to buy your book? What have you ever done?'.

"I have done a few things in boxing, but apart from that she thinks my life has been pretty boring, which I disagree with.

"But what I have got from Paul has been pretty funny and eye-opening."

Frampton believes one of the major selling points of the book will be the multi-million pounds legal battle with former manager McGuigan, which was settled back in November 2020.

All litigation and counterclaims were stayed on confidential terms at the High Court in Belfast.

Frampton added: "I think we can say a lot more about some things such as the court case, which will be a big part of selling the book.

"I can say a lot more than what people think I could say.

"So it's coming soon, and it should be good."
