Carl Frampton on the social media pact he made to avoid online trolls

Carl Frampton has revealed how he made a social media pact with himself to avoid online trolls.

The Jackal is preparing for his world title showdown with Jamel Herring on Saturday night in Dubai.

There is plenty of focus on the Belfast boxer approaching the bout, with plenty of people willing to have their say on Frampton's chances against WBO super-featherweight champion Herring.

Frampton's popularity is rewarded with plenty of positive comments on social media, but he admits there are some people whose negativity and online abuse can alter his mood.

"I've made this pact with myself that I won't look too much at social media," Frampton told iFL TV.

"Obviously I love the support I have, but I sort have someone else looking after that for me. They have been for the last few weeks.

"But opinions of people on social media, whether they are positive or negative, shouldn't affect the outcome of the fight."

He added: "You read positive comments, and I've done this in the past. You scroll past them and they're nice and nice.

"You have 20 positive ones and then you see one d******* giving you grief and it annoys you for a couple of minutes.

"I don't need that, so I have taken a bit of a social media sabbatical and it seems to be going well so far."
