Carl Frampton issues injury update as he teases 2020 title bout with Jamel Herring

Carl Frampton has vowed that he will be "back with a bang" in 2020 after updating fans on his hand injury.

The Belfast fighter revealed that he suffered fresh fractures to his hands during his victory over Tyler McCreary in Las Vegas last weekend.

He previously told how he refractured his left hand twice in the build-up to the McCreary fight.

Frampton, 32, initially injured his hand in a "freak accident" which forced him to pull out of his fight against Emmanuel Dominguez in August.

Taking to Twitter, Frampton revealed that he suffered an "acute, transverse fracture" in his left hand during the first round of his unanimous victory over McCreary in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He also suffered a "fracture through the base of the third metacarpal" on his right hand, which occurred during the seventh round.

On Wednesday night Frampton also retweeted a post from Jamel Herring appearing to tease their title bout in 2020.

Frampton is expected to challenge the WBO World super-featherweight champion in Belfast some time in spring, either at the SSE Arena or in Windsor Park.

The Belfast boxer will attempt to become Northern Ireland's first three-weight world champion.

Frampton last fought in his hometown in August 2018, when he stopped Australia's Luke Jackson in the ninth round of their featherweight contest at Windsor Park.
