Carl Frampton: 'I would have fought on until I was carried out'

Carl Frampton says he would have continued fighting "until I was carried out" after his world title dream ended in heartbreak on Saturday night.

Jamel Herring retained his WBO super-featherweight crown with a dominant display in Dubai.

Frampton was down in the fifth round and again in the sixth, before another series of heavy blows prompted trainer Jamie Moore to throw in the towel.

"It is disappointing the way it ended, with Jamie throwing in the towel," Frampton told iFL TV.

"As a coach it's his decision. He has to look after the fighter's safety.

"I'd have fought there until I got carried out, probably. I don't know how bad it was looking towards the end. But I would always have kept fighting.

"My safety and their fighters' safety is of the utmost importance. They felt it was the right thing to do.

"I was hurt, and I was dropped the round before. S*** happens, and I am just disappointed."

Reflecting on the stoppage, Herring said: "He is a father and a husband just like me, and you don't want to see someone get hurt.

"His team loves him, and I love and respect him as well. They did the right thing and I am glad he is able to walk out and go home and spend time with his family."
