Carl Frampton hand injury update as Jackal confirms surgery date

Carl Frampton has confirmed he will have surgery on his hands before Christmas.

Frampton suffered fractures in both hands during his unanimous points win over Tyler McCreary on November 30.

The 32-year-old also revealed he refractured his left hand twice in the build-up to the fight, aggravating an injury sustained back in August when an ornament fell on his hand during the build-up to his scheduled fight against Emmanuel Dominguez.

Frampton will go under the knife to repair the damage, and expects to return to the ring next May against WBO world super-featherweight champion Jamel Herring.

"I've got an operation next Friday, December 20," Frampton told Sky Sports.

"Both hands are getting operated on at the same time. I don't how it is going to work, doing certain things.

"It is what it is. Hopefully I will be around May time."
