Caring Carluke gran celebrates special birthday as Say It With Flowers recipient

Retired HSBC banker Lynne Carter is celebrating her 60th birthday with a beautiful floral arrangement from the Wishaw Press and Pixie's Petals of Newmains.

Lynne, who is resting up at home after breaking her toe, was nominated as our Say It With Flowers recipient by her grateful daughter Ashley Farren, for being such a wonderful mum and devoted gran to her children, Freya and Carter, whom she adores.

Since leaving her job, Lynne and husband John spend a large part of their lives looking after their two beloved grandkids, to enable their daughter Ashley to go out to work.

Ashley told Lanarkshire Live: “My mum is always running around after Freyah and Carter, whom she adores and they adore her in equal measure.

“She comes all the way from Carluke to Motherwell every day and collects them from school.

“She has been an absolute angel and I wouldn’t be able to work if she didn’t look after my kids.

“She takes them to school and to their after school activities. She is basically there when I need her. If I need something, I have it within the hour.”

Ashley continued: “My mum is a very caring person and will help out whenever she can.

“She always goes out of her way to help people and she is highly thought of.”

And when Ashley told us about her super mum, we were delighted to help out, surprising her with a stunning floral tribute, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals in Newmains.

“I think she will be shocked and surprised. She is always doing things for everyone else and she doesn’t receive enough appreciation that she deserves, and I would like to wish her a happy birthday. Hope you have the best day; you deserve it.” said Ashley.

And on receiving the flowers Lynne told us: “I was amazed; it was really nice to receive the flowers. It really cheered me up because I’ve been at home with a broken toe.

“I would like to thank Ashley for nominating me. It was really a nice thoughtful thing for her to do and I’d also like to thank the Wishaw Press for running the competition and to Pixies Petals for the beautiful flowers.”
