Cargo's Tare forced to close after staff test positive for coronavirus

A popular restaurant in Wapping Wharf has been forced to close after two employees tested positive for coronavirus.

Bosses at Cargo's Tare confirmed the colleagues worked in the kitchen, and both are now in self-isolation.

The first member of staff was diagnosed with the virus on Sunday (September 6).

During a Facebook post, a spokesperson said: "Unfortunately we have had two members of kitchen staff test positive for Covid-19, we are in contact with the local health authorities and will be closing Tare until it is safe to re-open.

"We have operated with the strictest safety measures, and we are confident that we have not put our customers' safety in danger."

Dozens of customers voiced their disappointment to the news.

One wrote: "So sorry to hear this Matt, but well done for responding so responsibly. I hope you are soon up and running again."

And someone else wrote: "Damn, we had a booking too! Let us know the minute you’re back up and running and we will be there. Can’t wait."

This is the second restaurant to close its doors in Wapping Wharf after staff contracted the virus.

In July, Seven Lucky Gods also shut after one employee tested positive for Covid.

Anyone with concerns should email the Tare team.
