Carers seen battering elderly woman in wheelchair in seaside village

A family have reported that they witnessed two carers striking a pensioner in a wheelchair while out on a day trip to a seaside village.

The mum of the family, who only wants to be known as Keren, claimed that she she was left "heartbroken" by the sight of the elderly lady being "punched" in Flamborough, Yorkshire.

She said that when the family, who were waiting in line for public toilets at the time, challenged the two woman as they walked off, according to Yorkshire Live.

The upset family followed them before proceeding to contact the police.

The witness uploaded her account of the event on Facebook, which has since been shared on other pages.

She said: "We went for a day to Flamborough. Whilst there, the girls needed the toilet so whilst we waited for them outside we saw this woman along with another women with the old lady in the wheelchair.

"The women manhandled the little old lady's feet by slamming them on the foot plates as the little lady was trying to get out the chair, whilst the other woman was pushing, (and) drag lifted her roughly. The little old lady looked absolutely petrified."

She said she started to get upset, and described how the situation then escalated as the elderly woman was then allegedly assaulted by one of her carers.

The post continues: "Next thing, the woman pushing decided not only to punch once but 3-4 times the old lady to the side of her face full force. So that was it. I started screaming and shouting at her, the little lady was petrified and crying asking for help.

"They told me to stay out of it, it's their mother, so I wasn't amused. Anyway they decided to try walk off so we followed them, them trying to distract us and make us lose them."

She said her husband phoned the police and they managed to get a description and registration for their car and they made a formal complaint about what they had witnessed.

She said: "Hopefully they'll be in serious trouble, my heart breaks for the old lady.

"I can't get the poor lady's face out my head and the sound of her begging for help, absolutely heart-breaking to see."

She added: "If I never had the kids with me I'd have swung for the evil b*****ds."

It is understood Humberside Police are investigating.
