Callous joyriders strike down young girl before setting stolen car alight in Cherry Orchard

A teenage girl was rushed to hospital last night after a suspected hit and run in west Dublin.

The shocking incident, which happened just before 8.30pm in Cherry Orchard, saw the car believed to have been involved in the collision set alight.

Two men are understood to have fled the scene after the suspected stolen vehicle went up in flames.

Another young girl is said to have collapsed in shock after witnessing the collision. It's been reported to Dublin Live that two ambulances attended the incident.

A large number of gardai and other emergency services personnel remained in the Cherry Orchard area last night following the incident including forensics experts and ARU members.

Gardai told Dublin Live this morning: "Gardaí attended a single vehicle RTC that occurred on Cherry Orchard Grove shortly before 8:30pm last night, Thursday 11th February 2021. A female juvenile in her teens was taken to St James Hospital to be treated for her injuries."
