Careless driver causes chaos in tunnel as they attempt three-point turn

A careless driver's attempt to complete a three-point turn caused a rabble of swerving chaos in a Liverpool tunnel, Liverpool Echo reports. The footage, which was shot in the Queensway Tunnel, shows cars urgently slamming the brakes and veering into other lanes to avoid the dangerous manoeuvre.

The footage, which was shot on Saturday (March 25) shortly after 11am, shows the driver pulling across two lanes full of traffic to perform a completely illegal, three-point turn.

A Range Rover is marginally missed by the driver, which is forced to swerve into the left lane to avoid a crash. The motorist then spins their wheel as they rapidly pull away in the opposite direction.

Drivers travelling in the opposite direction also had to put their foot on the brake to avoid a nasty collision. The driver then apologises by putting their hand up to another car it narrowly misses.

Mersey Tunnels Police has now confirmed officers are investigating the dangerous manoeuvre. A spokesperson for Mersey Tunnels Police said: "Mersey Tunnels Police are aware of the incident which has been recorded on CCTV and police investigations are ongoing.

"The safety of Mersey Tunnels customers is of paramount importance as is compliance with the Mersey Tunnels Byelaws. We thank those customers who have assisted Mersey Tunnels Police in respect of this incident."
