Care worker 'gutted' after thieves steal her car while she's in middle of 24 hour shift

A care worker had her car stolen in Walkden while she was on a 24 hour shift.

Julie Congleton Frost, from Ordsall, is a support worker and her car was stolen close to the home of a young lady with learning difficulties who she looks after.

Julie says she had only owned her modest Fiat 500 for less than a year after her old car was written off by a drunk driver.

According to Julie, there was no sign of a break in and nobody in the neighbourhood had heard any noise.

She took to Facebook to post about her stolen car in the hopes of it being found.

On her post she wrote: "Please share, I'm a key worker who was on a sleep shift yesterday from 2pm to 3pm today, m28 area Walkden road.

"I support a vulnerable lady in her own home and rely on my car for work.

"Someone has stolen this car fiat 500, 2 door with the reg J88 OSC, it's a coral colour with a glass part roof, my old plates [PL19 WHP] were in my boot so they may have used them as in picture.

"Absolutely gutted as my old car was written off before Christmas by a drunk driver, any help greatly appreciated.

"If it's not bad enough having to go to work scared of [the pandemic] there are people out there low enough to steal while we are there. Please share, ask your friends and their friends to share, thanks."

Julie, who was working a shift from 3pm on Tuesday to 3pm on Wednesday looking after the woman, has been in contact with her insurance company and says concessions are being made but has been left annoyed.

Julie, whose post was shared over 300 times, has been using her husband’s car but is thankful to the people who reached out to help her in the comments.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News Julie Said: "For the bad people out there, there are always better ones.

“I had a marvellous response from people sharing my post, [I've had] about 400 shares, and even offers for loans of some vehicles so I could still work."
