A care home with its own cocktail bar and cinema is to be built in Troon after its developers secured £6.6million of finance.
Morrison Community Care Group aims to put "fun in old age" at Queens View Luxury Suites in the Ayrshire seaside town. Residents living in its 56 suites will benefit from a lounge, bar, cinema, hair salon and spa and a private dining room.
Care services on site will include residential, nursing and respite care, creating 85 jobs including nursing, domiciliary and hospitality roles.
Morrison Community Care Group opened Kingsacre Luxury Suites in Duntocher, west of Glasgow, this year and has owned and operated Abbotsford Care Home in nearby Bearsden for 30 years.
Managing director Paul Sokhi said: “Our 30 years of experience in the industry has shown us that people want to have fun in their old age and we want to encourage this through design and environment. Allied Irish Bank (GB) understands our ethos and commitment to the highest quality of care. We hope to begin construction on the site soon and we’re working towards opening in early 2021.”
The £6.6 million loan facility for the project is coming from Allied Irish Bank (GB) , whose senior relationship manager Stuart Wardle said: “We’ve worked with Morrison Community Care Group for three decades and had no hesitation about financing the new facility in Troon. They are established operators with an excellent track record at caring for patients, which is something we take into consideration when working with healthcare clients.
“We’re proud to be working with an industry leader to create state-of-the-art, luxury facilities for older people in Ayrshire.”
