Care home in Troon named Scotland's best after five-star reviews

An Ayrshire care home which opened just 12 months ago has shot to the top of the industry's gold standard.

Troon's Queens View Harbour care home has secured top spot in Scotland after a vote by residents and their families.

The award, based on written submissions, saw more than 1,000 homes across the country vying for recognition from review body carehome.co.uk

Homes were rated on a range of factors from overall standard to food and drink and value for money.

More than 87,000 reviews were received from residents and their family and friends between July 2020 and June 2022.

Amanda Hopkins, reviews manager of carehome.co.uk, said: "We now have nearly 250,000 reviews of care homes on carehome.co.uk so we are able to give people a real insight into what a care home and its staff are like.

"Our reviews reveal the quality of their care, activities and nutrition as well as if the care home is value for money and the standard of their facilities.

"Reviews of Queens View Harbour care home show they provide an excellent standard of care and we would like to congratulate them on being a Top 20 care home in Scotland.

"It is a huge achievement to be named as a top-rated care home by the residents who actually receive the care as well as their family and friends.

"Choosing a care home can be daunting for both the person going to live there as well as their family, so we hope our awards which are given to the highest rated homes will help make the search easier."

Queens View Harbour home manager Michelle Someville added: "I am so delighted that we have been awarded Top 20 for 2022 and even more so to be rated at Number 1 for the whole of Scotland is a fantastic achievement.

"The home only opened in July 2021 and in that time we have created a fantastic environment and lifestyle for our residents and their families as well as engaging with the local community.

“I am so lucky in that I work with a team who are so dedicated and committed and the reviews we have received are testament to the great work of my team and I couldn’t be prouder.”
