Yadier Molina revealed Tuesday he is one of the St. Louis Cardinals players positive for the coronavirus.

“I am saddened to have tested positive for COVID-19, even after adhering to guidelines that were put in place,” the catcher said in a statement released through the team. “I will do all that I can to return as soon as possible for Cardinals fans, the city of St. Louis and my teammates.”

Molina’s announcement comes a day after the club had its next series postponed due to 13 total positive tests among players and staff. They are the second Major League Baseball team, along with the Miami Marlins, to experience COVID-19 outbreaks since the season started on July 23.

Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said Monday five of the team’s coronavirus cases are asymptomatic and eight have light symptoms, none requiring hospitalization.

Along with Molina, five other Cardinals chose to go public with their diagnosis: Paul DeJong, Junior Fernández, Rangel Ravelo, Edmundo Sosa and Kodi Whitley.
