One of the biggest offseason questions for the Arizona Cardinals is the future of legendary receiver Larry Fitzgerald. As he has done for the last several offseasons, he is taking his time to decide whether he will retire or return for another year with the Cardinals.
Fitzgerald was on the golf course on Wednesday taking part in the Waste Management Phoenix Open Pro-Am and was asked about his future.
His responses are familiar. He was focused on the present, as he was playing golf.
“I”m just focused on the next hole and just figuring out how to get this golf game right,” he told 12 Sports AZ’s Cam Cox. “That’s all I’m worried about right now. everything will take care of itself.”
Fitzgerald said there is “no timeline” for his decision to play or retire. “Just taking it day by day.”
He is feeling good after a tough end to the season physically. He missed the season finale with a groin injury that he played through the previous two weeks.
“I feel all right,” he said. “I wasn’t feeling great as the season ended. I was pretty banged up but I’m starting to feel better now.”
He noted he “can finally wing a golf club without any pain,” something that matters a lot to him. He plays a lot of golf in the offseason.
But as for his decision, he didn’t give any clues as to when it might come.
“I honestly haven’t really given it much thought.”
