Cardinals without CB Robert Alford in preseason game vs. Raiders

The Arizona Cardinals appear to be down a cornerback for their second preseason game Thursday evening. Starting cornerback Robert Alford was not among the players dressed, on the field and warming up as they prepared for their contest against the Oakland Raiders.

That means Patrick Peterson and Tramaine Brock are slotted to be in the starting lineup with rookie Byron Murphy playing in the slot.

It is not known yet whether Alford’s absence is an injury.

The Cardinals already will be without Patrick Peterson for the first six weeks of the season because of a PED suspension. If Alford is injured and misses any time in the regular season, that could be devastating to the defense.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury will be available for comments following the game.
