The Arizona Cardinals, in their 28-28 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, played 74 snaps on defense. Let’s see how that playing time was divided up and what it means.
Defensive line

Corey Peters, 52; Jonathan Bullard, 49; Rodney Gunter, 47; Zach Kerr, 22; Clinton McDonald, 15
McDonald left at some point during the game. There were more defensive line snaps to be had because they played a lot more in base defense.
Linebacker

Jordan Hicks, 74; Chandler Jones, 67; Terrell Suggs, 58; Joe Walker, 42; Haason Reddick, 33; Cassius Marsh, 30; Brooks Reed, 1
Walker’s playing time shows the Cardinals were in base defense more. However, there was one snap when both Walker and Reddick were on the field together with Hicks.
Marsh’s snaps were often when they had three outside linebackers on the field.
Defensive backs

Patrick Peterson, 74; Byron Murphy, 74; Budda Baker, 73; Jalen Thompson, 45; Deionte Thompson, 28; Tramaine Brock, 23; Kevin Peterson, 7
I do not recall seeing Kevin Peterson play. Baker was out for one play.
