In Week 2, the Arizona Cardinals played 79 defensive snaps against the Baltimore Ravens. Let’s look at the playing time and how it was divided up, as well as go over what it means.
Defensive line

Corey Peters, 55; Rodney Gunter, 54; Zach Allen, 45; Clinton McDonald, 19; Miles Brown, 7
The Cardinals played a lot less base against the Ravens than in Week 1. They had three defensive linemen in the game only 22 of the team’s defensive snaps. They used more 4-3 looks, which technically is a 2-5 in their defense because they used an extra linebacker or safety.
Linebackers

Inside: Jordan Hicks, 79; Haason Reddick, 67; Joe Walker, 34
Outside: Chandler Jones, 75; Terrell Suggs, 58; Cassius Marsh, 22; Brooks Reed, 5
Based on these numbers, the Cardinals had three inside linebackers on the field 22 times, giving the defense more of a 4-3 look.
Defensive backs

Cornerbacks: Byron Murphy, 75; Tramaine Brock, 73; Chris Jones, 30
Safety: D.J. Swearinger, 79; Budda Baker, 77; Deionte Thompson, 15
Thompson got his first defensive snaps of the season. They had an extra safety in the game 13 times.
