PHILADELPHIA _ It took awhile for the Cardinals to find a way to take advantage of the Phillies and their unsettled bullpen, but better late and loud than never.
The Cardinals batted around in the 11th inning and tagged the Phillies with two home runs and seven runs total en route to an 8-1, 11-inning victory. Tommy Pham and Yadier Molina each had home runs as the Cardinals turned 1-1 tie game into a rout, but it was Stephen Piscotty's two-run double that broke the inning open.
Phillies reliever Casey Fien entered with two runners on base.
The score was tied.
He left with the Cardinals ahead by seven runs and the Phillies about to lose their 12th game in their previous 13. He got two outs in the inning, but an error and another series of hits prolonged the Cardinals' rally. Matt Carpenter walked to start the 11th, and when it came his turn to bat again he doubled down the right-field line to score Chad Huffman.
The gush of runs made a winner of Kevin Siegrist and sat Matt Bowman down because there wasn't a save to be had in the bottom of the inning.
