Cardinals UDFA profile: RB Wes Hills

The Arizona Cardinals added several undrafted rookies to their roster after the completion of the NFL draft. Running back Wes Hills was signed even after them. He signed with the Cardinals after getting an invite to rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.

Now he is on the offseason roster trying to make his way onto the team.

What is there to know about him?

Physical profile:

The team lists him at 6 feet tall and 218 pounds. Because of an injury he suffered during the Senior Bowl, he did not do any predraft drills. His Draft Scout profile says he has a 40 time of 4.59 seconds.

Background

He began his college career at Delaware in 2013, where he played through 2016. His 2015 and 2016 seasons were cut short due to injury and he was ruled ineligible in 2017. He was a two-time captain. He transferred to Slippery Rock, a Division II school. He was an All-American. He was the MVP of the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and got an invite to the Senior Bowl but had a minor injury.

Stats

2013 (12 games): 10 carries, 81 yards, one touchdown

2014 (12 games): 172 carries for 952 yards and six touchdowns; nine receptions for 53 yards

2015 (1 game): 16 carries for 88 yards

2016 (7 games): 88 carries for 728 yards and seven touchdowns; one catch for a TD.

2018 (12 games for Slippery Rock): 246 carries, 1,714 yards and 17 touchdowns

Highlights

Outlook

He has been compared to David Johnson because of his build and style. He believes he is a steal. He could have a chance because the running back room is pretty wide open after David Johnson and probably Chase Edmonds.
