Cardinals UDFA profile: OL William Sweet

Among the more than dozen undrafted rookies the Arizona Cardinals have on their offseason roster, there is offensive lineman William Sweet. He, unlike many of the other undrafted rookies on the roster, played at a large school and was invited to the combine.

Here is what you should know about Sweet.

Physical profile

The team lists him as being 6-6 and 313 pounds. At the combine, he ran the 40 in 5.27 seconds. He benched 225 pounds 23 times. His vertical leap was 30.5 inches. His broad jump was 9-3. He ran the three-cone in 8.01 seconds. He has NFL size, adequate speed and strength and slightly below average quickness.

Background

He declared for the draft as an underclassman, playing only three years. He started once at left tackle as a freshman and began his sophomore season as the starter for three games before a knee injury ended his season. He started all 10 games in which he appeared in 2018.

Highlights

Scouting report

According to his NFL draft page, he has NFL length and good hustle and he finishes plays. He is not explosive and his frame could be leaner than preferred.

Outlook

The offensive line battle for the roster will probably come down to two or three spots. He has tackles ahead of him he will have to beat — Desmond Harrison, Korey Cunningham and others. It will be a numbers game. However, he has a shot and definitely could find himself on the practice squad if he impresses.
