Cardinals to host Mississippi State safety Johnathan Abram for visit

The Arizona Cardinals are apparently taking a look at several safeties in the NFL draft. One of the players they will bring in for a visit, one of the 30 they are allowed, is Mississippi State safety Johnatahan Abram.

Abram told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero the Cardinals were one of several teams he will visit.

Abram had 99 tackles, nine for a loss, three sacks and two interceptions for the Bulldogs in 2018.

He can play in the box and has a linebacker mentality, which would have fit Arizona’s defense last year. Perhaps new defensive coordinator Vance Joseph also likes safeties who can play like a linebacker in nickel downs.

He is 5-11, 205 pounds and ran the 40 in 4.45 seconds at the combine.

He becomes yet another name to watch for the Cardinals as the draft unfolds next month.
