Cardinals to hold private workout with Baylor CB Derrek Thomas

The Arizona Cardinals continue to do predraft work and not only regarding the decision they have in the first round. They are doing their homework on prospects for later rounds and even as potential undrafted rookie signings.

One intriguing player they are researching is Baylor cornerback Derrek Thomas. According to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson, Thomas is scheduled to have a private workout with the Cardinals, among other teams.

Thomas began his college career at Temple as a receiver, switched to cornerback in 2016 and then transferred to Baylor.

In 2016, he had 29 tackles and seven pass breakups for Temple.

In 2018 after sitting out a year, he had 21 tackles, seven pass breakups and one interception.

He stands 6-3, weighs 194 pounds and ran the 40 in 4.44 seconds at the NFL combine. He has a 39.5-inch vertical leap and a 10-11 broad jump.
