Cardinals to begin offseason program April 8

With a new head coach, the Arizona Cardinals can begin their offseason program earlier than teams who do not have a new head coach. They can start as early as April 1. The Cardinals will not start that early.

Kliff Kingsbury, speaking to reporters at the league’s owners meeting (via the official team site), revealed they would open their offseason program on April 8, a week later than they can.

Kingsbury still has not been able to sit down with the team, something he can’t wait to do.

He said the decision to push it back was “a scheduling thing.”

What that does is keep things together. Rather than starting workouts and then having a week off in the middle of the offseason program, the players will just start later and go consecutively until after mandatory minicamp in June.

Almost all of the offseason work is voluntary, although not showing up is expected, especially in a new system.
