Cardinals TEs share non-traditional backgrounds at position

The Arizona Cardinals have six tight ends on the roster. They have three pairs of players who are similar in background.

Charles Clay and Maxx Williams are veterans who have played tight end a long time.

Ricky Seals-Jones and Darrell Daniels are also similar. Both are converted wide receivers. Seals-Jones was a receiver all through college at Texas A&M and moved to tight end when he entered the league.

Daniels began college at Washington as a receiver but converted to tight end as a sophomore.

Their two rookie tight ends also share a background. Both used to be quarterbacks. Caleb Wilson, whom the Cardinals drafted with the final pick of the draft. made the move to tight end before college, realizing he was not at the same level as the Josh Rosens and Sam Darnolds of the world coming out of high school.

Drew Belcher, a undrafted rookie, played two years at Maine as a dual-threat quarterback. When the team shifted to a pro-style offense, he moved to tight end.

So the Cardinals have two longtime tight ends, two former receivers and two former quarterbacks at the position.
