Cardinals still undecided on who will be No. 1 pick

The NFL draft is less than a week away and the Arizona Cardinals have the first overall pick in the draft. While many say they have made a decision, they claim they have not.

“We are not done with this process,” general manager Steve Keim told reporters at a predraft press conference. “We have not made a decision on the first overall pick.”

He also added that between himself, his staff and the team’s scouts, “there are a number of players” worth taking with that first pick.

Keim explained that the team’s draft board was complete as of the time he spoke with reporters but the process of getting their final 120-player board set was not yet started.

When will they know what they will do?

“Once we finish with the 120 process, Kliff (Kingsbury) and I will sit down with (team president) Michael Bidwill and we will discuss all of our options, and we’ll wade through what makes us better as an organization,” he said.

At this point, it might have happened.

But Keim scoffed at the idea that there are reports saying they have made up their minds, calling it “concerning.”

He also admitted there is plenty of misinformation being spread, so no one can really know if they have decided or not.

It seems unlikely they have no idea at all. Do they have a list of scenarios and have them prioritized? That is likely the case, and because they won’t play out yet they can say they haven’t actually decided.

Luckily, it all will have played out by Thursday. It can’t come soon enough.
