The Arizona Cardinals played their starting offense and defense against the Kansas City Chiefs, excluding a few players with injuries. It didn’t go well on offense.
The Cardinals did not have left guard Justin Pugh, tight end Maxx Williams or receiver DeAndre Hopkins in the lineup.
Hopkins dressed and warmed up but did not play.
The result was ugly. The starters played three series. They went three-and-out on all three.
Kyler Murray completed 1-of-4 passes for two yards and was sacked twice. He fumbled once but the Cardinals recovered. They had a net of minus-1 yards.
There was nothing positive that came out of their play, except perhaps getting out of the game healthy.
It is the preseason and the Cardinals do not scheme or game plan for opposing teams. They keep things simple but it would be good to see some progress.
If they struggle out the gate in Week 1, then it will be time to sound off some alarms.
