Cardinals sign CB Luq Barcoo after ‘administrative procedural things’

Cornerback Luq Barcoo is now a member of the Arizona Cardinals, but it was interesting how it happened. He was originally awarded on a waiver claim after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, on Monday, he was waived by the Cardinals with a failed physical designation.

He was re-signed on Wednesday.

So what happened? Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday it was “some administrative procedural things.”

He is a player the Cardinals want to see. “I’m excited to see him on Saturday,” he said.

Barcoo was an undrafted rookie our of San Diego State in 2020 who signed with teh Jaguars.

He played in three games last season, starting once. He finished with 10 tackles and a pass breakup.

He offers length at 6-1 and weisgh 175 pounds.

While at San Diego State, Barcoo was an All-American and first-team All-Mountain West selection after leading the nation with nine interceptions and 16 passes defensed as a senior in 2019. The 23-year old Barcoo left the program ranked second in school history with 10 interceptions despite playing just two seasons.

He has some extreme athleticism.

At his own pro day, he rane the 40 in 4.41 seconds  a 41-inch vertical, and a 4.41 40-yard dash.

Kingsbury made it sound like he would get a lot of playing time this weekend, as they look to evaluate him in terms of defense and special teams.
