Cardinals set for final meeting to decide on No. 1 pick

It appears the Arizona Cardinals do not know exactly what they will do with the first overall pick in the draft this week. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, that decision is coming very soon, as the team’s major decision makers — team president Michael Bidwill, general manager Steve Keim and coach Kliff Kingsbury — will have a final meeting to discuss plans for the top pick.

They will discuss whether or not they will trade the pick or decide who will be their selection. Most around the league expect the Cardinals to draft Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, although reports say ownership could be backing off that direction. Other players under consideration are Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa and Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

This meeting suggests that general manager Steve Keim was being truthful when he told reporters last week he didn’t know yet what the team was going to do with the pick, despite reports coming out as early as February saying the team had made up its mind on Murray.

The NFL draft begins Thursday evening.
