Cardinals scout supplemental draft prospect Jalen Thompson

The NFL supplemental draft has an intriguing player available and the Arizona Cardinals are doing their homework. Washington State safety Jalen Thompson has entered the supplemental draft because he lost his final year of eligibility of college play.

He held his pro day on Monday in Los Angeles and worked out in front of 26 teams, according to Draft Analyst’s Tony Pauline. The Cardinals were included in that group.

Arizona was among six teams lining up to meet with Thompson.

The Cardinals do not have a current need at safety and drafted Deionte Thompson this past April in the fifth round but D.J. Swearinger will be a free agent after the season.

Thompson probably would have been a Day 3 pick like Deionte Thompson, had he declared for the 2019 draft.

According to Pauline, he measured at just over 5-10 and weighed 186 pounds.

His testing results were 11 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, 40 times of 4.47 and 4.56 seconds, a vertical leap of 33.5 inches, a broad jump of 10-foot-4, 4.16 seconds in the short shuttle and 6.98 seconds in the three-cone.

The supplemental draft will take place Wednesday. The Cardinals have not selected a player in the supplemental draft since quarterback Timm Rosenbach, also out of Washington State in 1989.
