ATLANTA _ The Cardinals reshuffled and rearranged lineup had results their manager has been trying to ignite for a few weeks now.
Forced to rethink the top of the order because of injuries to Dexter Fowler and Stephen Piscotty, the Cardinals got production from their replacements and just about everywhere else in a 10-0 thumping of Atlanta at sleek new SunTrust Park. The Cardinals got at least one hit from every spot in the order, and seven of the first eight spots in the order reached base at least twice.
The win is their most lopsided of the season.
Tommy Pham and Matt Carpenter had home runs, and shortstop Aledmys Diaz had his second three-hit game in as many nights. In his return from Class AAA Memhis, Pham reached base three times, doubled, and homered while also finishing the evening with two RBIs.
Diaz raised his average from .218 to .264 in the span of 18 innings.
Diaz doubled in two runs in the third inning, drove home another run in the sixth inning, and helped back starter Lance Lynn for his six shutout innings. Lynn walked two and hit two batters for half of his eight baserunners allowed. The Braves muster several hits against Lynn (4-1), but very few actual hits. The right-hander complicated his evening with flighty command of his fastball, though he pitched around any of the baserunners that the Braves had.
The Braves' new ballpark has been hitter friendly in its early days _ especially for opponents. In the past four games there, the Mets and Cardinals have combined to scored 40 runs.
