Cardinals preseason schedule sheds light on training camp opening

While most are focused on the regular season part of the NFL schedule that was released Wednesday evening, the dates and times for the preseason were also set. The Arizona Cardinals’ four preseason games are the following:

  • Game 1: Chargers at Cardinals, Thursday Aug. 8, 7 p.m.
  • Game 2: Raiders at Cardinals, Thursday Aug. 15, 5 p.m. (ESPN game)
  • Game 3: Cardinals at Vikings, Saturday Aug. 24, 10 a.m.
  • Game 4: Cardinals at Broncos, Thursday Aug 29, 6 p.m.

That gives the Cardinals two home weeknight games.

Knowing the Cardinals open the preseason on August 8, we can also know when training camp can and likely will begin.

The earliest they can have veterans report to camp is on July 24, 15 days before the team’s preseason opener. If they choose to begin camp then, the first practice will be the 25th and their first time in pads will be Saturday the 27th. That very well could be the team’s Red & White practice.

It is still months away and the team will not be announced until the beginning of June, as it has been done for years, but for those who make training camp a yearly fan event, you can begin to save the dates.
