Cardinals plan on no starters playing in preseason finale

The Arizona Cardinals will play their preseason finale Thursday night on the road against the Denver Broncos. Starters typically do not play in preseason finales and that will be the case for the Cardinals.

Their plan is for no starter to play, explained head coach Kliff Kingsbury on Monday, although it could happen.

“We’re going to try not to have any starters go,” he said. “There’s a couple of emergency backup situations that will probably be in but we’re trying not to.”

Kyler Murray said after the game Saturday he won’t be playing. The starting offensive line won’t likely be in. Kingsbury said neither Mason Cole nor A.Q. Shipley will play despite having a battle for the starting job at center.

Brett Hundley will start the game but won’t play long.
