Cardinals Place Kyler Murray on Injured Reserve List

The Cardinals are placing Kyler Murray on the injured reserve list, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday. He is dealing with a foot injury.

This puts Murray out for at least the next four games after he missed Monday night’s primetime contest vs. the Cowboys. Jacoby Brissett started for Arizona, leading them to a 27–17 win. Brissett was already named the starter for the Cardinals’ Week 10 matchup vs. the Seahawks, and now we know why.

Murray hasn’t played since Oct. 5 as he’s been continuously dealing with his foot injury. Brissett’s thrown for 860 yards, six touchdowns and one interception while Murray’s been out, and also posted a 1-2 starting record.

Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. spoke on Wednesday about what it’s been like playing with Brissett as the quarterback. He had nothing but positive things to say.

"He's obviously a tremendous leader for us,” Harrison said. “I think his communication and understanding of the offensive system has done a tremendous job for just everybody."

Brissett has two tough NFC West matchups coming up, starting with the Seahawks this week and the 49ers the week after. Then, Murray will miss at least the next two games, which are against the Jaguars and the Buccaneers. These will all be tough tests for Arizona.

The Cardinals are hopeful Murray will be healthy to return come Week 14 when the Cardinals face the Rams on Sunday, Dec. 7. Depending on Brissett does in his absence, we’ll see if Arizona elects to put Murray back in the starting quarterback spot.
