Cardinals pitcher Jordan Hicks unleashed a completely unfair 100 mph sinker

It never ceases to amaze just how ridiculously good MLB pitchers are these days.

They’re throwing harder than ever before. The pitches have more movement than ever before. And, then, when they’re feeling weird, they can be like Zack Greinke and throw a 51 mph eephus pitch.

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Jordan Hicks, though, is not like Zack Greinke. Instead, he’s one of the hardest-throwing pitchers in the game and his off-speed pitches are still in the mid-80s. But it’s his sinker that is just an absurd pitch, and during Wednesday’s game against the Nationals, Ryan Zimmerman got a first-hand look at the 100 mph sinker.

Unreal.

The sinker, which again was being thrown by a right-handed Hicks, cut in towards the right-handed batter’s box. Though the pitch was actually off the plate, Zimmerman didn’t have much of a chance when a ball has that much movement AND velocity.
