Cardinals offensive snap counts and observations from preseason opener

The Arizona Cardinals had 68 offensive snaps on Thursday against the Los Angeles Chargers. As preseason games go, many players get playing time.

Here are the snap counts on offense and some observations from the numbers and from watching the offensive rotations.

Quarterbacks

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Brett Hundley, 25; Charles Kanoff, 19; Drew Anderson, 13; Kyler Murray, 11

Nothing surprising here. However, it was Anderson who entered the game before Kanoff.

D.J. Foster, 17, T.J. Logan, 15; Wes Hills, 15; Chase Edmonds, 10; David Johnson, 7; Dontae Strickland, 4

Edmonds got snaps with the first and second teams. Foster had them with the second and third teams.

Wide receivers

Pharoh Cooper, 39; Hakeem Butler, 32; Damiere Byrd, 32; KeeSean Johnson, 27; Trent Sherfield, 21; Isaac Zico, 18; Larry Fitzgerald, 7; Christian Kirk, 5

It came as a surprise that neither Chad Williams nor A.J. Richardson saw any snaps. That isn’t a good sign for them. Williams, though, was just back from an injury. Byrd, Sherfield and Johnson all had playing time with the first and second teams.

Tight ends

Ricky Seals-Jones, 26; Caleb Wilson, 22; Drew Belcher, 19; Darrell Daniels, 14; Maxx Williams, 10

The tight ends played far more than most probably anticipated. They opened with two tight ends. With the first team in, there was only one play with no tight end in the game. Much of the second half was with two tight ends playing.

Rees Odhiambo, 42; Jeremy Vujnovich, 42; Korey Cunningham, 42; Lamont Gaillard, 42; Mason Cole, 36; Coleman Shelton. 32; Joshua Miles, 15; Parker Ehinger, 15; William Sweet, 15; Patrick Lawrence, 15; Marcus Gilbert, 11; A.Q. Shipley, 11; J.R. Sweezy, 11; D.J. Humphries, 11

Cole got 11 snaps with the first-team offense at left guard and the remaining 25 were at center with the second unit. Gaillard played center once Cole left and Coleman Shelton played guard with eth second unit before moving to center for the third and fourth teams.
