Cardinals not sure if LB Haason Reddick will be ready for Week 1

Arizona Cardinals linebacker Haason Reddick was able to practice on Tuesday. It was his first action since he had knee surgery near the start of training camp.

The early message was that he was going to be back and available for the season opener, but that has changed a little.

“The best I can give you is it will be close,” head coach Kliff Kingsbury said on Monday. “Not sure if he will be 100 percent and we won’t put him out there unless he is.”

That doesn’t sound optimistic.

After practice on Tuesday, Kingsbury elaborated further.

“He’s had a limited role and we’re hopeful he can continue to progress,” he said. “I’m not sure it will be Week 1 and hopefully in the not too distant future he’ll be out there going full speed.”

In the meantime, Joe Walker appears to be set to start in his place.

This is a critical year for Reddick and the Cardinals are counting on his athleticism to be a key part of the middle of the defense.
