Cardinals ‘not optimistic’ about Larry Fitzgerald’s availability vs. Rams

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is officially questionable for the game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. He did not practice all week with a groin injury. Considering the circumstances the Cardinals are in with the chance to make the postseason and with Fitzgerald at perhaps the end of his career, virtually no one who has followed him believes he will miss the game.

However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it looks more likely than not that he will miss the season finale.

According to Schefter, the team is “not optimistic” he will be able to play and it is “not counting on having him available.”

This changes things for the Cardinals, who are also down Christian Kirk, who was placed on the COVID-19 list on Saturday.

If Fitzgerald truly is unable to go and the Cardinals lose to the Rams, he might already have played his final NFL game.

As for the game against the Rams, it means the Cardinals will need KeeSean Johnson and Andy Isabella to step up, and tight end Dan Arnold will need to have a big game as well.

It would not be a surprise to see Fitzgerald end up being active and playing a limited role, but it is possible he has already played the last game of his storied NFL career.
