Cardinals likely will not face RB Saquon Barkley in Week 7 vs. Giants

The Arizona Cardinals will take on the New York Giants on the road in Week 7. It is the first week they will have cornerback Patrick Peterson. Things might have gotten a little easier for Arizona because of an injury to Giants star running back Saquon Barkley.

He is unlikely to play that week because of an ankle injury he suffered in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He is expected to miss four to six weeks with a high ankle sprain. The Cardinals play the Giants in four weeks. The belief is it will take the longer part of the timeline to get healthy.

The Cardinals will miss several key opposing offensive players this season. They already faced the Carolina Panthers without QB Cam Newton. They will face the Pittsburgh Steelers without QB Ben Roethlisberger, who is out for the season. They very likely will play the New Orleans Saints without QB Drew Brees. Now Barkley is hurt.

Missing Newton didn’t help the Cardinals beat the Panthers. Carolina won with their backup QB, Kyle Allen.

However, since Barkley has been their top offensive weapon, hopefully the Cardinals can take advantage when they play them.
