Cardinals LB Brooks Reed to IR; CB Chris Jones, LB Pete Robertson promoted to roster

The Arizona Cardinals, after announcing their final injury report of Week 10, announced some roster moves. They placed outside linebacker Brooks Reed on injured reserve. He suffered a hamstring injury and, after being limited in practice, had a setback and missed on Friday.

His season is now over.

That left two open roster spots, as linebacker Zach Brown was released earlier in the week.

To fill those vacancies, the Cardinals elevated two players from the practice squad. Cornerback Chris Jones and linebacker Pete Robertson now are on the 53-man roster.

Robertson, who has been on the practice squad all season after standing out in the preseason, will surely slide right into Reeds’ role on special teams and defense, getting a handful of snaps on Sunday.

Jones will give the Cardinals depth at cornerback with Tramaine Brock ruled out of the game on Sunday. He will be the team’s fourth cornerback behind Patrick Peterson, Byron Murphy and Kevin Peterson. He played the first five games of the season before he was cut to make room for Peterson and was re-signed to the practice squad after that.

Both will likely be active on Sunday when the team takes on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
