Cardinals’ late-round offensive linemen considered great value picks

The Arizona Cardinals did not select an offensive lineman in the NFL draft until the sixth round despite what many feel is a glaring need. In the end, they selected two linemen — center Lamont Gaillard in the sixth round and tackle Joshua Miles in the seventh.

Neither was a highly-touted prospect, as both were expected to be Day 3 selections, but many believe the Cardinals got good value with them. It continued with the theme of the entire draft for Arizona — selecting players later than they were anticipated to go.

According to NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, both Gaillard and Miles were actually the greatest values among offensive lineman.

Miles was the greatest value among tackles, selected 112 picks later than Jeremiah had him on his big board.

Gaillard was atop the list for interior lineman.

He was taken 39 spots lower than his place on Jeremiah’s big board.

Of course, one thing you will note is the fact that Jeremiah rated Miles four spots higher than Gaillard.

Neither player is expected to be a starter this year. Neither is even a lock to make the team. Ultimately, they were Day 3 players selected on Day 3. However, they were relative steals and, if they pan out at all and can even just stay on the roster for multiple seasons, they will have been good selections.
