Cardinals land safety, receiver in early 2020 mock draft

A 2020 mock draft? Really?

Yes. Draft Wire managing editor Luke Easterling put together a ridiculously 2020 mock draft and it even goes two rounds.

Who could the Cardinals be in position for next year?

Using Super Bowl odds as the order for the draft, the Cardinals pick fifth overall.

Their two picks are:

Round 1: LSU S Grant Delpit

Round 2: Oklahoma State WR Tyler Wallace

A mock draft this time of year gives up perspective about who are expected to be top players, what teams’ needs might be and how players might fit.

Looking at both players projected to the Cardinals, and they are odd. While safety will be a need next year, as D.J. Swearinger will be a free agent, taking one with a top-five pick means Delpit better be special.

And after taking Christian Kirk in the second round in 2018, Andy Isabella in the second round this year and then two other receivers in the draft in 2019, would the Cardinals really take another receiver in the second round next year?

Ideally, the Cardinals will not be in the top five of the draft in 2020, but as the college football season approaches, keep an eye on these two players to see if they end up being worth a top-five pick in the first and second rounds.
