Cardinals’ Kyler Murray compared to Russell Wilson

What kind of player do the Arizona Cardinals get in quarterback Kyler Murray? Cardinals general manager Steve Keim isn’t quite sure there is anyone who has ever been like him.

However, one player comp comes up often, someone the Cardinals are quite familiar with.

Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar compares Murray to Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson.

Murray has been compared to everyone from Michael Vick to Doug Flutie, but it’s the comps to Wilson that make the most sense. Both quarterbacks stand under 5’11,” both are better in the pocket than you’d think given their height disadvantages, both can make accurate throws all over the field, and both are outstanding athletes and rare runners who add mobility to comprehensive skill sets as pure quarterbacks as opposed to run-around guys who throw the ball a bit.

Keim said even Wilson is not even a perfect comp, as Murray has 4.3 speed, while Wilson ran the 40 in 4.56 seconds.

Keim has seen Murray’s throwing ability before. He has seen quarterbacks who run the way he does. He has never seen someone combine the two things.

Wilson has been one of the best quarterbacks in football in terms of production and wins. Cardinals fans hope Murray can do the same thing.
