Cardinals inactives: David Johnson, KeeSean Johnson, Alfred Morris sit for Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals have set their seven-man inactive list for their Week 8 contest against the New Orleans Saints. They lose one starter and gain one on offense.

Running back David Johnson, as reported last night, will miss the game and will not dress in Week 8. Receiver Christian Kirk, though, is active and will play for the first time since injuring his ankle in Week 4.

The inactive list has a couple of surprises. Here is the full list:

  • WR KeeSean Johnson
  • RB David Johnson
  • RB Alfred Morris
  • RB D.J. Foster
  • OL Lamont Gaillard
  • DL Michael Dogbe
  • DL Zach Allen

Johnson being inactive is a surprise, although his playing time dropped significantly last week. But with Damiere Byrd back from an injury and Trent Sherfield earning praise from the coaches, Johnson’s role is diminished.

Morris being inactive is also a surprise, as he was expected to be the backup to Chase Edmonds, who will start at running back in place of Johnson. Instead, Zach Zenner will likely spell Edmonds and play special teams.

Starting inside linebacker Jordan Hicks missed two days of practice with a calf injury and was officially questionable for the game. He is active and will start.
